Excellent course, a lot of info that they don't teach you in school. My mixing skills have improved from taking these courses and watching the videos, especially on vocals and drum mixes. I will definitely take the next course, it's well worth the money.
It has been a very rewarding experience so far. My mixes have more clarity and definition. I'm developing a procedure to use as a starting point. I've also learned that you don't have to use eq or compression on every track! It's very important to get a good take and sound right from the very start. My big thing right now is mixing in mono. It's a whole different ball game as far as eq and panning. You really need to listen very closely! I'll also get the sounds, eq, compression, effects in solo as a starting point to mix with everything else. It seems I go back and forth a lot and because of this my ears are opening up to sounds I haven't heard before. Anyway, Thanks Jordan and I look forward to your other courses soon. Rand
Hardcore Mixing was the best audio course I've taken so far. My mixes used to be so boring, flat, lifeless. Now my clients are impressed at not only the speed of my workflow but also the pro quality mixing thanks to all the automation tips. Thank you jordan!
'I've been listening to Jordan for quite some time now. Jordan highlights techniques over technology, which not many engineers do. And it's helped me to break through my barriers, making me more of a 'free spirit', rather than following rules. The last project I did is a testament to what I'm saying, as it's probably the best mix I've ever done.
I started Jordan's mixing course a few months ago and I haven't been able to finish because honestly, my mixing improved so much that I have been just mixing records and haven't had enough time to learn more!
I wasn't sure about committing at first but after I had already learned so many cool new things from your free videos, I decided why not, and I'm glad I did! The lessons on drums, parallel compression and bass especially have already made my mixes sound night and day compared to what I was doing before. And most importantly the lessons on organizing and your guide on which order to do things in has helped me streamline my whole mixing process and helped me get faster, which was always my biggest problem. Thanks for all the kickass content and thanks for making such a great, no-nonsense course!
My mixes have gone from dull and lifeless to having movement and sounding better overall. You're the man Jordan!
I finished the mixing course a couple of weeks ago and just wrapped up the editing course today and wow! I studied recording engineering in college 20 years ago, I was lucky enough to be taught/mentored by Jack Richardson (Guess Who, Alice Cooper) who was of course Garth Richardson's father, and he was great.
Unfortunately though when my schooling was done I felt like I walked away with more questions than answers, so when I cam across JV's videos online I was kind of blown away by how clear, to the point and helpful they were by comparison. I was hopeful but a bit skeptical about signing up for the paid courses, but now that I have I'm glad I did. The over the shoulder perspective was perfect, especially when things didn't go as expected and he was able to explain why. My biggest complaint about other videos I've watched is that they were too rehearsed and "best case scenario" which rarely played out the same way for me when I'd try to follow along on my own, and I think that's a big part about what's worked for me with JV's courses, becasue there were no road blocks or hurdles for me to get over. I was able to follow 100% of it and soak it all up. The technical tips as well as the theoretical and personal preference suggestions were a great help too.
Anyway, happy customer for sure!
When I started working in this business (11 years ago) I took a one year course in an expensive audio school that didn't teach me anything near what your mixing course did. Sure I've learned some concepts but they didn't teach me how to employ them in real work. Can't wait to try the other courses, the value is outstanding. One of the best decisions I've ever made, period!
"I had a bad experience with one of those private recording colleges. Tons of buck for not a lot of bang. However, Hardcore Mixing was different.
It is safe to say that the sounds of all my mixes have been taken to the next level. In fact, as a result, I have made the decision to start a side-business in recording and mixing. My $20,000 college diploma wasn't able to provide that level of confidence!
Once again, thank you Jordan for putting together this enormously valuable product. It has taken my mixing game to new heights in a ridiculously short amount of time. My drums sound better, my guitars and bass sound huge and my vocals sound crisp and clean. You could easily charge much more!"
I was in the middle of mixing an EP... I decided to invest in your course and took the mixes from good to so much better. I really liked the work flow that you use. It has confirmed that I was on the correct path. This has given great insight as to breaking apart each frequency zone and working each area of frequency to gain coordination of sound amongst all frequency areas. They work well together vs having not enough or too much build up in certain areas. As always I will continue to learn and will review your course again and again for reference until it has become ingrained in me.
The courses are spot on, I have learnt so much and my mixes have gone from amateur to pretty damn good i would like to think. Bands from across the UK are now booking me and i'm preparing to make the jump between part freelance/part time employment to full time freelance and get rid of my job! I couldn't have done it without you!
I just want to thank you so much mate. The courses are spot on, I have learned so much and my mixes hae gone from amateur to pretty damn good I would like to think. Bands from across the UK are now booking me and I'm preparing to make the jump between part free lance/part time employment to full time free lance and get rid of my job! I couldn't have done it without you!
I can't thank you enough for the Hardcore mixing course. It's definitely the best investment I've made in a long time!
I was striving to get my mixes to sound like the pros, trying to copy tones and shape my mixes to sound like theirs. I didn't have a clue how to take my mix from novice level to professional. The course really helped me open the doors to making significant improvements to all elements of my mixing.
After finishing the course I went back to a current mix I was working on and started from scratch... the client was blown away. He even said to me that it was better than what any other studio in my area was putting out (which have been going a lot longer than me!).
Hey Jordan, I'm up to Kick and Snare and have gone back into it a couple of times. I've been really busy with work so I've been slow going with the course. I am loving it so far and think you've done a great job with it. Ever since I found you from Graham Cochrane, I have been learning and enjoying tons of info from you. Thanks and have a great Holiday!-Sean
