How A Crappy Room Made My Mixes Better

When I transitioned from my project studio space to mixing at home, I was terrified. How would a pared-down set up – with just a Mac, my mix interface and NS10s – impact the quality and feel of my mixes? Would I feel limited with less gear? 

Would the less than ideal location lead to sub-par mix results? 

It turns out that mixing at home was one of the BEST moves I could have made – for developing some killer mix strategies while keeping my clients happy and coming back for more. Here’s what I learned about doing your best mixing work – no matter where you are.
